DOING & BEING -- A dialogue with the Buddha
" You sit so serenely, eyes downcast and arms at rest in gentle acceptance. What are you doing?
"Nothing."
"Are you not sitting? Are you not breathing? Are you not digesting your food?"
"That is my body doing what it needs to do, what it knows well how to do all by itself. No need for me to get involved. I am doing nothing."
"You are meditating?"
"My mind is meditating. 'I am' is doing nothing. I am being what I am. Just so"
"But surely you cannot live your whole life not-doing.....?"
"When there is something to do, do it and be what you need to be in order to get it done. When the task is finished, stop your Doing and go back to Being All."
And a deeper silence fell.
