In a finite existence, such as being human,
Taking a point of view is inescapable.
Being finite, we cannot encompass the infinite --
Not all at once anyway.
The stupidity of sticking to one opinion, one perspective, one belief, one point of view,
Was never better displayed than a radio interview a few minutes ago
With a medical expert on the subject of lung cancer:-
Interviewer: Why do some people who smoke not get lung cancer, and why do some people who don't smoke contract the disease?
Expert: We don't know. (We assume) it's because they breathe in other people's smoke.
That was it. End of discussion. No further correspondence. His point of view is that "Lung cancer is caused by smoking". No other possible causes can be investigated.........
Well, righteousness makes life conveniently simple. I guess that's why it's so popular. OK, if you're happy to go through your entire life simple-minded.
The trick with dealing with the limitations of a Point of View
Is to change it,
As often as possible --
Certainly more often than your other underwear.
