When we take a Stand on something
We create a context that frames and holds all possibilities
And allows them to be,
As we engage with them creatively.
When we take a Position,
We dismiss possibilities and resist Opposition.
For example....
I have a Stand that is "A world that works for all of us."
I also have a corresponding Position that sounds like "A world that does what's right."
While both co-operation and opposition may arise
Within both a Stand and a Position,
A Stand tends to encourage co-operation;
While a Position openly invites opposition.
A stand is a quality of space that allows possibilities to show up;
A position is more like a manifesto, an expectant demand that negates certain resisted outcomes.
A stand is expansive;
A position is restrictive.
A stand balances all options;
A position excludes certain alternatives.
A stand is contextual;
A position is conditional.
Stands are creative.
You may create as many as you want,
As often as you want....
The more, the better.
Positions make you "right".
If you're at all like me,
You don't need any more to ruin your peace of mind.
Good luck.
