Sit quietly for a moment or three. Let your gaze relax until you can comfortably look at your nose.
Don't get entangled in thinking about it. Just relax.
Suddenly it is there. You can see the tip of your nose. No sweat.
Now uncross you eyes, get up and move around the room. Notice that, wherever you move, it is always there in front of you.
Go right, go left, go right, go wrong...... awake or asleep....
It is there. Always. So there is no question about finding it. Why, then would you have to search for it? You cannot miss it.
Can you?
Yes. We all miss it, when we are busy searching for it. We peer past it, focusing on other things, looking for something that is as obvious as .... well ... the nose on our face.
When we tire of seeking and our eyes relax
We see at last what has been there all along -- as close as the tip of our nose.
The world disappears - and we are here, where we have always been ---
This close.
The naturalness you seek has always been available to you. Don't get a shock -- but -- this very moment, you are in it.
Wake up. Wake up. Wake up......
Your gaze has been clouded. You have been daydreaming
Models, expectations, musts, opinions, beliefs, distinctions ---
All distortions that prevent you from seeing what is right at the end of your nose.
Naturalness does not need to be a goal, it is already your nature. You may miss it, but you cannot go out of it, no matter how far you wander. You carry your nature within you.
There's no need to rummage through the past, or gaze longingly into the future. Simply be here now. Let go of whatever you have acquired, and find what you have always been.
Relax
Give up the search. Wake up.
Do nothing else. In doing you lost it. In doing you will lose it again. Doing is so easy. Doing makes it so difficult. There is nothing to be done.
Give up acting naturally. Be natural.
Now you can look with clear eyes at whatever is here in front of you.
Naturally
